YouTube to MP3 on Android
No APK, no sideloading and no Play Store listing: AudioFetcher is a website you can install from Chrome. Once installed, it shows up in the YouTube app's Share menu, so converting a video takes two taps.
Option 1: share straight from the YouTube app
Installed web apps can receive shared links on Android, just like regular apps. Set it up once:
- Open audiofetcher.com in Chrome or Edge.
- Tap the ⋮ menu, then Add to Home screen or Install app. If Chrome asks, choose Install rather than Create shortcut.
- In the YouTube app, tap Share under a video or Short and pick AudioFetcher. If it isn't in the first row, swipe along or tap More.
- AudioFetcher opens with the link already filled in. Choose a format and tap Fetch, then Download.
Option 2: just use the website
In any browser, including Firefox, Samsung Internet and Brave: copy the video's link with Share › Copy link, open audiofetcher.com, tap Paste, choose a format and fetch it.
The quick version
- 1Install once
Chrome menu › Add to Home screen › Install. It takes a few seconds.
- 2Share from YouTube
Share › AudioFetcher on any video, Short or YouTube Music track.
- 3Choose a format
MP3 for everything, Opus for the smallest file at original quality, MP4 for the video.
- 4Download
The file goes to your phone's Download folder.
Where the file goes on Android
Downloads land in the phone's Download folder. Chrome shows a Download complete message with an Open button, and you can always find the file in Files by Google › Downloads (on Samsung phones, My Files › Downloads). Most music players, including VLC, pick up MP3 and Opus files there automatically; if yours doesn't, move the file into the Music folder. MP4 videos also appear in your gallery app, usually in an album called Download.
MP3, Opus or M4A on Android?
- Opus is YouTube's own best audio stream, copied without re-encoding, and the smallest file. Android plays it natively. YouTube to Opus.
- MP3 plays everywhere, including car stereos and old players, if the file will leave your phone.
- M4A is YouTube's original AAC audio, also untouched. Handy if you share files with iPhone users.
Set it as your ringtone
Convert to MP3, then cut the part you want (up to 60 seconds) with the Ringtone Maker in Chrome; it runs in your browser and doesn't upload the file. Then open Settings › Sound and vibration › Phone ringtone and pick the file, or tap + to add it. Menu names vary by phone maker. More tips in the ringtone guide.
Common problems on Android
- AudioFetcher isn't in the Share menu. It was probably added as a plain home-screen shortcut. Remove it, then use Chrome's Install option. Only Chrome-based browsers such as Chrome and Edge add it to the Share menu.
- The link doesn't appear when AudioFetcher opens. Share from the video itself, not from the channel or a playlist page, and make sure it's a YouTube link (youtube.com, youtu.be, Shorts or YouTube Music).
- The download failed or expired. Files only stay on the server for a short time. Fetch the video again, ideally on Wi-Fi for long MP4s.
- A video fails to convert. Private, age-restricted, region-restricted, removed and live videos can't be converted. The help page explains each error.
Questions
Do I need to install an APK?
No. AudioFetcher installs from Chrome as a web app. Nothing comes from unknown sources, and you don't need to change any security settings.
What can the installed app access?
Only what the website can access in your browser. It asks for no special permissions and can't read your files, contacts or other apps; it just receives the link you share with it.
Why doesn't AudioFetcher show up when I tap Share?
It needs to be installed, not just added as a shortcut. Open audiofetcher.com in Chrome or Edge, choose Install from the menu, then look under More in the Share menu.
Where are my downloaded MP3s?
In the Download folder. Open Files by Google, or My Files on Samsung, and tap Downloads.
Can I convert YouTube Shorts on Android?
Yes. Tap Share on the Short and pick AudioFetcher, or paste its link. Shorts work for MP3 and MP4.
Is it free?
Yes. Audio is free for single videos up to 60 minutes, and you can save up to 50 MP4 videos a day for free, each up to 40 minutes. Only convert videos you own or have permission to download.
