YTMP3 not working? What is actually going on
"YTMP3" is not one website. Several unrelated operators use the name, the best-known domain has changed address at least four times since mid-2025, and one variant was blocked by court order in June 2026. If your usual YTMP3 link fails, redirects, or asks for notifications, that is why.

What happened to ytmp3.cc
Comparitech traced the original ytmp3.cc through the Wayback Machine in July 2026: it redirected to ytmp3.cs in July 2025, then to ytmp3.ai at the end of 2025, then to ytmp3.gs in spring 2026, and as of June 2026 it lands on convertytmp3.org. Each move breaks bookmarks and any link you saved.
Separately, a Canadian Federal Court ordered nine ISPs including Bell and Rogers to block ytmp3.lat in June 2026, at the request of Sony, Universal and Warner. The court described the blocked sites as copycats of similarly branded services. Users in Canada on those ISPs will see the site fail to load.
The brand itself has a history of disappearing from Google. In 2023 the operator of YTMP3.nu sued unknown parties over DMCA notices that caused Google to delist or downgrade its search results. That is one reason a search for YTMP3 returns a different domain every few months.
Why it redirects, asks for notifications, or opens new tabs
Security writers at Comparitech, Surfshark and Softorino all reach the same conclusion: the YTMP3 sites do not directly install malware, but they monetise through ad networks that use redirects, fake download buttons and push notification prompts, and those can lead to unwanted software. Trustpilot reviewers of ytmp3.cc in late 2025 and early 2026 describe the same pattern: redirects to other sites and requests to allow notifications.
One reviewer in August 2026 wrote that they paid $42 for a lifetime supporter tier on a YTMP3 domain and the site then stopped working for them. Treat that as one person's account, but it illustrates the risk of paying a site that may change domain next month.
Quick checks before you blame the site
- Open the video on YouTube itself. If it is private, age restricted, region restricted or removed, no converter can fetch it.
- Try a short, public, non-music video. If that works and your video does not, the problem is the source, not the converter.
- If the page loads but the download button opens another site, that is the ad network, not a broken converter. Close the tab rather than clicking through.
- If the domain simply will not load, it may have moved again or be blocked by your ISP. Searching for a new mirror is how people end up on lookalike domains of unknown ownership.

Common questions
Is YTMP3 shut down?
No single YTMP3 site was shut down in the October 2025 IFPI action, which targeted Y2Mate, YT1s and ten others. The main YTMP3 domains keep moving, and ytmp3.lat was blocked in Canada in June 2026. Whether "your" YTMP3 works depends on which of the many domains you were using.
Which YTMP3 domain is the official one?
Nobody can say with confidence. Comparitech reports ytmp3.cc now redirects to convertytmp3.org, while a converter vendor's blog lists ytmp3.ai as official. Ownership of the lookalikes is not verifiable from public sources, so we do not recommend any of them.
Does YTMP3 give you a virus?
Comparitech, Surfshark and Softorino say the site itself does not install malware. The risk comes from the third-party ads and redirects, which can push adware, notification spam and unwanted programs. Use an ad blocker and never click a download button that opens a new site.
Is a 320 kbps download from YTMP3 really 320 kbps?
The file may be encoded at 320 kbps, but YouTube serves audio at roughly 128 to 160 kbps for standard videos. A 320 kbps MP3 cannot contain more detail than the source. Choose 320 for compatibility, not for quality.
