X2Download not working? It stopped supporting YouTube
X2Download is online, but it no longer downloads YouTube videos. When we checked on October 21, 2026, both x2download.app and x2download.com offered only Instagram and Facebook downloads, and x2download.com carried a notice dated 12/1/24 (December 1, 2024) saying it will no longer support downloading videos and audio from YouTube. If a YouTube link fails there, that is why.

What changed in December 2024
Until late 2024 X2Download was a YouTube downloader. The Wayback Machine's November 2024 captures of x2download.app and x2download.com are titled as YouTube video and MP3 downloaders. From December 2024 the same domains serve Instagram and Facebook download pages instead.
The news box on x2download.com dates the change: on 12/1/24 the site announced that it would no longer support YouTube, on 12/3/24 it added Facebook downloads up to 4K, and on 12/5/24 it added Instagram videos, photos, Reels and Stories. The operator did not give a reason, and we do not guess at one. Articles that still recommend X2Download for YouTube are out of date.
What you see on the site now
On October 21, 2026, x2download.app opened on an Instagram downloader with a Facebook to MP3 option and an advertisement slot under the download box; its page no longer mentions YouTube at all. x2download.com showed an Instagram downloader with the YouTube notice in its news box. Neither offers a YouTube option.
Other domains use the X2Download name. x2download.is, for example, presents itself as an ad-free YouTube downloader. Nothing public connects it to x2download.app or x2download.com, and its owner is not public, so treat it as a separate site.
Quick checks
- If X2Download shows an Instagram page, the site is working as designed: YouTube is simply not supported any more.
- Instagram and Facebook links should still work there; that is what the site now offers.
- Be careful with lookalike domains that use the X2Download name and still promise YouTube downloads. Their owners are not public.
- Whatever tool you use, open the video on YouTube first. Private, age restricted, region restricted or removed videos fail everywhere.

Common questions
Does X2Download still work with YouTube?
No. A notice on x2download.com dated 12/1/24 says it will no longer support downloading YouTube videos and audio, and on October 21, 2026 neither x2download.app nor x2download.com offered a YouTube option.
Is X2Download down?
No, the website answers; the live check above tests x2download.app from our server every 10 minutes. It just handles Instagram and Facebook links now, not YouTube.
Is an X2Download site that still accepts YouTube links the real one?
We cannot tell who runs other domains using the name. The two best-known domains, x2download.app and x2download.com, both dropped YouTube, so a site that still offers it is a different operation as far as public records show.
What does AudioFetcher do differently?
It is built for YouTube audio, with no ads. Free single videos up to 60 minutes as MP3 up to 320 kbps, FLAC, or the original Opus and M4A streams, plus MP4 up to 1080p. A $5 Supporter Pass adds 12-hour audio and full playlists.
