CnvMP3 not working? How to tell what is failing
CnvMP3 is one of the few converters without ads, funded by donations, and it holds a 4.9 out of 5 rating on Trustpilot from more than 1,400 reviews. When it fails, it is usually one of four things: a "security error" or secure connection failure, a stuck conversion during busy periods, a video over its length limits, or a lookalike domain that is not cnvmp3.com at all.
Published September 16, 2026. Facts are dated and sourced below; individual user reviews are quoted as individual accounts, not as verified findings.
What CnvMP3 users actually report
The most recent Trustpilot review at the time of writing, dated September 16, 2026, says the reviewer uses the site a lot but currently cannot because it throws a security error. Converter vendors' review pages describe "Secure Connection Failed" messages during peak hours, stuck downloads mid-conversion, and occasional antivirus false positives. Those vendors sell competing products, so weigh their claims accordingly, but the pattern matches the Trustpilot reports.
The site states its own limits: no MP4 longer than one hour and no MP3 longer than one hour and thirty minutes. Its URL path also rotates, for example cnvmp3.com/v51 to cnvmp3.com/v55, which is normal for the site but can break old bookmarks. It asks for donations to cover server costs and shows a monthly goal tracker; funding shortfalls are one explanation vendors give for capacity problems, though that is inference rather than a statement from the operator.
On quality, one vendor measured about 243 kbps of actual output when 320 kbps was selected. That is a single test and not a verdict, and any converter faces the same ceiling: YouTube serves standard videos at roughly 128 to 160 kbps, so a 320 kbps setting is a container choice, not a quality gain.
Lookalike domains
The official domain is cnvmp3.com. Domains such as cnvmp3.org and cnvmp3.co are separate sites. A converter vendor calls them fake copies that carry ads or worse; that is a vendor claim and cnvmp3.org has its own Trustpilot profile, so the safe summary is simply that they are not the same operator and you should not assume they behave the same way.
Quick checks
- Check the address bar: cnvmp3.com is the real one.
- Open the video on YouTube. Private, age restricted, region restricted or removed videos fail on every converter.
- Check the length. Over 90 minutes for MP3 or 60 minutes for MP4 is over CnvMP3's stated limit.
- If you see a security or secure connection error, wait and retry later; it is usually load, not your device.
- If the conversion sits at the same percentage for minutes, reload once and try a shorter video as a control.
An ad-free alternative: what AudioFetcher offers
AudioFetcher is the converter we build, so read this section as the developer's description rather than an independent review. The facts below are the ones a visitor can check on the site itself.

Common questions
Is CnvMP3 safe?
Every source we found, including hostile vendor blogs, describes it as ad-free with no pop-ups or fake buttons, and its Trustpilot rating is 4.9 out of 5. Reputation scanners disagree with each other, one flagging a low trust score and another finding no unwanted redirects in live testing. Use the real domain and it is as safe as web converters get.
Is CnvMP3 down right now?
Automated status pages only check that the domain answers, so they cannot tell you whether conversions are working. The Trustpilot review stream is a better live signal. If you see a security error, others usually do too.
Why is CnvMP3 slow or stuck?
It is a donation-funded service with shared capacity, so busy periods produce queues, stuck progress bars and connection errors. Retrying later resolves most cases.
What does AudioFetcher do differently?
Both are ad-free. AudioFetcher's free tier allows 60-minute audio, and Pro extends that to 12 hours with playlists, which matters if CnvMP3's 90-minute limit is what stopped you. It also adds chapter splitting, SponsorBlock removal, ID3 tags, cover art and lyrics. It requires one Turnstile check before a free conversion.
