YouTube playlist length calculator

Paste a YouTube playlist link to see how long it takes to watch: the total, the time at faster playback speeds, any range of videos, and how many days it takes at your own pace.

How it works

  1. 1
    Paste a playlist link

Any public or unlisted playlist: a course, a lecture series, an album or a music mix. A video link that contains list= works too.

  2. 2
    See the total

AudioFetcher reads the playlist's titles and lengths, adds them up and shows the total at normal speed and at 1.25x, 1.5x, 1.75x and 2x.

  3. 3
    Plan the rest

Set a range, for example videos 12 to 40 if you are halfway through, and how many minutes a day you can watch to see how many days are left.

How long is a playlist at 1.5x or 2x?

Divide the total by the speed. A 10-hour course takes 8 hours at 1.25x, 6 hours 40 minutes at 1.5x, about 5 hours 43 minutes at 1.75x and 5 hours at 2x. The calculator does this for you and rounds to the second. Lectures and tutorials usually stay easy to follow at 1.25x to 1.5x; music is best at normal speed.

Questions

How is the playlist length calculated?

AudioFetcher lists the playlist's public videos with their lengths and adds them up. Private, deleted and not-yet-finished videos are left out and shown separately.

Does it work with Watch Later or Liked videos?

No. Those lists are private to your account, so no outside tool can read them. Copy the videos into a public or unlisted playlist first.

Is there a limit?

The first 500 videos of a playlist are counted, which covers almost every course and music playlist. Each visitor can count 10 new playlists an hour; playlists counted recently load instantly.

Why does the total change over time?

Playlists change: videos get added, removed or made private. The calculator shows the playlist as it is right now.

Does this download anything?

No. It only reads the playlist's public details: titles and lengths. To save the audio, use the playlist converter.
