YouTube to MP3 with cover art and tags
Files that show a blank square and "Unknown artist" are annoying on a phone, in a car and in any music library. AudioFetcher can embed the video thumbnail as cover art, let you set the ID3 tags before download, and attach lyrics when an exact match exists.
How tags and artwork are added
Tags and artwork are written into the finished MP3 container. The audio stream itself is not touched, so adding metadata never costs quality.

Cover art embedding and the tag editor apply to MP3 output.

Tick Embed cover art to put the thumbnail inside the file. Tick Edit MP3 tags to reveal fields for title, artist, album, genre, track number and year. Blank fields keep whatever the source provides.

Include lyrics asks LRCLIB for one exact artist and title match and, when found, adds a synced lyrics.lrc file (or plain lyrics.txt) next to the audio in a temporary ZIP. Embed subtitles adds uploaded or automatic captions in one language. Save thumbnail delivers the image as a separate file in a temporary ZIP.
- 4Fetch and check
Open the file in your player. If the artwork does not show, see the cover art troubleshooting guide, since some players cache old artwork or ignore embedded images.
The tag editor is for single MP3 conversions and tags are not saved in recipes. Lyrics come from LRCLIB's public database and are only attached when the artist and title match exactly, so remixes, live versions and unusual titles often return nothing. That produces a warning, not a failed conversion. Free conversions cover single videos up to 60 minutes. Use only videos you own or have permission to download.
Questions
Why is the cover art cropped or letterboxed?
YouTube thumbnails are 16:9 and most players display a square. AudioFetcher embeds the thumbnail as provided. For a square image, add it afterwards with the local cover art tool.
Can I fix tags on files I already have?
Yes. The local Edit MP3 metadata tool rewrites tags in your browser without uploading the file.
Where do the default title and artist come from?
From the video title and channel name. Music uploads that follow the Artist - Title convention usually fill both fields sensibly, otherwise use the tag editor.
Do M4A, Opus or FLAC get cover art?
The thumbnail embedding option is for MP3. Original M4A and Opus streams are delivered as YouTube serves them, and you can tag them locally afterwards.
