How to add cover art to an MP3
Embed your own JPEG or PNG as the front cover without re-encoding the MP3 audio or image.
Updated September 5, 2026. Steps checked against the current tool controls.
Steps
- 1
Keep a backup and choose an MP3 already on your device. If you already edited its tags, use the downloaded tagged copy here.
- 2
Under Cover image, select a JPEG or PNG you own or have permission to use. Use a modest square image and check the target player's size requirements.
- 3
Select Add Cover Art to MP3 and wait for Complete. The image is embedded in a new MP3; your original is unchanged.
- 4
Download the result before closing the tab. Open that downloaded copy in your player, not the original file.
- 5
If the old cover remains, refresh or re-import the track in the player. Test another player to separate cached artwork from a device compatibility issue.

- Open Add Cover Art to MP3. Choose your MP3 and a JPEG or PNG cover you have permission to use.
- Select Add Cover Art to MP3 and download the result. The file is processed on your device.
- Open that downloaded copy in MP3 Metadata Editor. Enter the title, artist, album and track number.
- Run the editor and download the MP3. Existing cover art is preserved without re-encoding the audio.
- The demonstration ends with a verification card for Morning Walk: its tags, embedded cover and unchanged encoded audio were checked with FFprobe and packet hashes.
Before you start
- Artwork display is player-dependent; embedded artwork is not a compatibility guarantee.
- Large artwork increases the file size. Your JPEG or PNG is embedded as supplied; choose JPEG if your player requires it.
- No artwork search or media upload is performed. Use your own image.
Work from a copy, keep the original, and verify the downloaded result before removing any source file. Browser-local output is temporary until you download it.
